Boxing is a sport that has been losing a lot of popularity in recent years. However, one match that is due to be fought next month is certainly going to be a spectacular contest. It sees Britain’s David Haye take on the Beast from the East, Nikolai Valuev.

Valuev stands 7 feet tall, and is the biggest fighter in boxing history. He has only lost one of his 52 fights, and he has never been knocked out. David Haye is a big Brit standing at 6ft 3, but looks tiny compared to Valuev, only just reaching his shoulder.
The bout is for the WBA heavyweight title and will be fought in Nuremberg, Germany.

Nikolai Valuev has described Haye as “another idiot boxing” and is very confident that his longer reach and greater strength will make short work of David Hayemaker Haye.
Haye has chosen his words more wisely, saying “going up against this guy will be a real shock to the system no doubt”. But he also made a few jokes about knowing that he would have to fight a big man to win the WBA Heavyweight title, just not as big as Valuev. He finished by saying “His head is about three times the size of mine, so I’m not going to have to worry about missing him!” True British spirit, go and cut the hairy Russian down to size Haye!

David Haye Beats Valuev on Points To Win WBA Title

Once again David has beaten Goliath. This time it was David Haye, the British heavyweight boxer, taking the Beast from the East, Russia’s Nikolai Valuev. Haye won on points.
The first rounds saw Valuev looking most confident and driving forward with some big body shots coming from both corners. Valuev was constantly jabbing while Haye kept out of range. Haye fought a smart, tactical fight. It soon became apparent that his tactic was to keep out of trouble, get some good point scoring shots in, and let his superior fitness carry him through the fight.
By the sixth round Valuev’s jabs were starting to land more and Haye’s hit rate continued to remain low. By the eighth Haye started to show some improvements by getting inside Valuev’s jab a few time to land some good punches.
Haye’s plan of avoiding Valuev continued through the 9th, 10th and 11th rounds. Valuev started to tire and was breathing heavily in between rounds, while Haye still looked fresh.
In the 12th round Hate let his fury and power unleash and landed a series of powerful blows that rocked Valuev.
Haye wins on points, the three judges scoring 114-114, 116-112, 116-112. A very close fight.
